Introducing Dorene & Stepwell
I’m Dorene Mahoney, and this is my site. I’m new to blogging, but not to writing, and not to business coaching and consulting. I had my own consulting firm through the 90’s named Clarity Consulting before I returned to an inside position with a corporation.
Throughout my career I have alternated between outside and inside: I enjoy the exposure to different organizations and industries that consulting affords and the continuity of relationships that being an employee provides. I have been working on the outside with StepWell Coaching for the last few years and am pleased, now, to have a blog!
I hope that my blog will be a place to share important insights about the behaviors and actions that consistently produce success for individuals and organizations. If I’m successful at drawing readers, I look forward to back-and-forth discussion and feedback. I welcome your questions and will answer them in a blog entry. Hopefully, you’ll be willing to reveal (anonymously, of course) your own successes and setbacks. Together, we’ll all get smarter and thrive in our work, whatever the work may be. That’s my plan, anyhow.
As more background, my field of expertise is the human dimension of business and the larger world of work. In my roles as a manager, executive and coach, I mentored and supported dozens of individuals to advance and thrive in their careers and jobs. As an internal or external human resources consultant, I orchestrated the transition of workforces (organizations) to new markets and business philosophies. Regardless the scale, one secret to my own success was sharing overarching objectives of change and involving everyone (employees, management and the community) in a common vision and plan. My most powerful tools were astute listening; honest, complete and transparent communications; and a deep respect for human beings, regardless of their line or level of work. Full partners in the change process, each of us contributed our particular talents and experience to produce an elegant effort. Whether my client is an individual or corporation, having me as an encouraging partner and seasoned professional speeds the process and ensures an optimum outcome.
Whew! Now that the self-aggrandizement is over, a few logistics: First of all, I will try to share real-life examples to support comments and suggestions. I want to assure you that the facts will be changed so that no confidentiality will be breached. Second, the titles of blog entries that are aimed at the individual who is looking to enhance his or her business effectiveness coaching will begin with the letters EC. The title for entries that aim at career counseling will begin with the letters CC. And those entries that deal with organization-wide issues (organizational consulting) will begin with the letters OC.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time!
